Prior notification must be provided to the technical safety authority for repairs and alterations of industrial gas cylinders.
Self-employed or company engaged in gas cylinder repairs or modifications
The approval of the technical safety authority is required to change the codes and colour markings stamped on industrial gas cylinders. Only the maintenance organisation may perform repairs and alterations on industrial gas cylinders and their accessories, and only as specified in the repair or alteration documentation. The maintenance organisation performing the repairs must notify the Budapest or county government office acting as the technical safety authority of the planned activities.
After receiving the notification, the authority will examine the notification and its annexes. If the notification is correct, the notifying body will be entitled to carry out the activity.
The designated body shall be requested to perform a technical safety inspection after all gas cylinder repairs and alterations. The inspection shall determine whether the cylinder complies with the repair or alteration technical documentation, the requirements specified in the official decision, and the provisions of the relevant legislation.
If the notification is unsuitable and the authority determines, during the course of the inspection, that unlicensed activities are being conducted, the notifying body will be prohibited from pursuing the activity in question.
If, during the course of the procedure, the technical safety authority identifies any error or deficiency in connection with the relevant safety and reliability requirements or that the equipment may pose a threat to health, safety, property or the environment, or its use may result in a situation that causes such damage, the authority may:

No appeal may be made against the merits of the authority’s decision. If you do not agree with the authority’s decision, you may submit an application to bring an administrative lawsuit based on an infringement of the law within 30 days of receipt of the decision. The application must be addressed to the competent court with territorial jurisdiction, and submitted electronically to the competent Budapest or county government office acting as the technical safety authority.
